Welcome to the Hempstead County Circuit Clerk's Office.
The administrative duties of the Circuit Clerk are to maintain a record of all proceedings of the civil, criminal, domestic relations, and juvenile courts; to prepare the dockets for these courts; to issue summonses, subpoenas, writs, and warrants related to each case; and to attend all court sessions.
The Circuit Clerk is also the ex-officio county recorder and is responsible for recording deeds, mortgages, releases, powers of attorney, performance bonds, public official bonds, liens, surety bonds, and many other orders and instruments which involve property within the county (ACA 14-15-402). Other duties include, but are not limited to, sending notices to jurors and managing jury duty, swearing in notaries, mailing child support payments, and recording veterans' discharges. Additionally, the office prepares reports for the Administrative Office of the Courts.
